| Recycling The demand on the use of the paper has been increasing in a significant way in the last years. In the presses, newspapers, offices, universities and homes, the paper fulfills a fundamental roll in our daily life. The great demand and the high production costs that it implies have forced the companies wastebaskets to search for diverse forms to reuse the paper of remainders and cardboard like paper paste. The process, called recycling, allow to a considerable saving of energy and raw material, as it is it the wood of the forests of the south of Chile. To recycle means to return to use objects, to transform them into new ones. When the recycled papers arrive at the transformation place, they are washed with the objective to eliminate all the impurities. The newspapers and the magazines can be reduced to paste and make new newspapers or other products like cardboard. The used paper of better quality can be taken advantage of as raw material to make paper for the presses. The process involves phases of classification of papers and used cardboard, packed and transported to the factories of the companies wastebaskets, those that consumed 230 thousand tons in 2002. |
